- Who was he?
- He was an artist. He was a photographer who worked to capture pictures that make you feel small and the world feel big. 
His work ethic 
- What thrived? What suffered?

 - In his life, some things that thrived were his imagination, his photography skills, his sense for adventure. Something that suffered was his relationships, for example, his relationship with virginia. His love for photography took over his love for virgina. 
- Was it worth it?
- I think for him, sacrificing his love for Virgina for his love of photography was worth it because he loved taking pictures. And taking pictures at Yosemite was how he centered and focused his life.  
How was he "a true American"?
- Environment

     - He was a "true American" because for the most part, he always stayed in America for his photography. there was nowhere in the world he loved more than Yosemite and so that was where he always went.
